Eid ul Fitr vs Eid ul Adha: The Fashion Difference
It’s worth understanding why these two Eids look different in terms of dress.
Eid ul Fitr falls after Ramzan, which in recent years has landed in spring or early summer. Collections are flooded with bright pastels, lightweight lawn, and fresh colour palettes. It’s celebratory, colourful, a bit chaotic.
Eid ul Adha in 2026 falls in early June (approximately June 7th, subject to moon sighting). By this point in Pakistan, the summer heat is fully in swing — but the occasion itself carries a more sombre, spiritual weight. The result is an interesting fashion paradox: the weather calls for light fabrics, but the event calls for something with more gravitas.
Pakistani women have long solved this with:
- Heavier embellishment on lighter base fabrics — think embroidered lawn or tissue fabric
- Deeper, richer colour palettes compared to Eid ul Fitr
- Semi-formal to formal silhouettes even for home gatherings
